Have you been for a walk in Lincoln Park recently? Portland Parks and Recreation has put up all these lovely signs about our trees. You can pick up a self-guided tour or scan the QR code to take it with you on your phone. Not only that, but these Pop-Up Arboreta are happening all over town each month! What a fun way to explore our city parks ☺️. You can check out a sneak peak of the installation in Lincoln Park here. Another great way to explore the park is on one of our Friday Ladybug Walks!

It is transition time of year! Please spread the word to register your 5 year old by June – see our Kindergarten Registration page for more information! It is also time for 5th graders to start thinking (or think even more) about Middle School. By now, students should have talked with their family about what elective they want to take in 6th grade and brought home or picked up a lock to practice with. (If not supplies can be picked up in school entryway any weekday 8:30-3:30). Middle School Family Nights will be the week of 5/17 – see this document for each middle school’s Virtual Family NIght, general information and forecasting forms.
Vaccine Info! The Convention Center site will be accepting walk-ups (as well as by appointment) as of 5/7. For other options, you can search for an appointment in English or Spanish. There are several other clinics happening around town in the next few weeks, email me for more information.
This week’s story is A Life Made by Hand: the story of Ruth Asawa, by Andrea D’Aquino. Such a lovely story about an artist whose work I recognize, but about whom I knew very little. You can learn more about Ruth Asawa here. (and from the story, of course). The artwork in the book is also a delight. What are your favorite details to notice?
